Chelsea was born and raised in Vancouver. She received her Bachelor of Arts (Medieval Studies) and Masters of Arts (Medieval History) from the University of Victoria and shocked everyone in her life by making a practical choice (at last) and completing her law degree at the University of British Columbia.
Chelsea received her law degree from UBC in 2002 and articled at a law firm in downtown Vancouver before joining Ron Eichler after being called to the Bar in 2003. She has experience running trials at the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia, and has prepared appeals to the Court of Appeal of British Columbia. She has also represented clients at Employment Standards Branch hearings and WCB proceedings.
Chelsea’s areas of practice include employment law, personal injury and wills and estate planning.
Chelsea is an accomplished musician and has acted as a supervising lawyer with the Law Students Legal Advice program for four years. She enjoys running reasonable distances with her small dogs, being as active as humanly possible, and reading. She believes that honesty is the best policy and therefore admits she also likes television and buying shoes.

Ron grew up in Montreal and Ottawa, receiving his Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University before making the (very sensible) decision to move west to attend the University of British Columbia for his law degree.
After receiving his law degree from UBC in 1996, Ron articled at a law firm in New Westminster, where he was trained in all areas of litigation, including: personal injury, insurance defense, collections and business disputes. After his call to the Bar in 1997, Ron joined the Federal Department of Justice, where he practised for two years before moving to a downtown law firm to focus on commercial litigation, employment, insurance defense and construction law. In 2002, Ron opened his own practice and was joined by Chelsea Caldwell in 2003.
Ron has spent the last ten years helping clients clarify their goals and acting to carry out their wishes. He is an experienced litigator who has run trials at all levels of Court in British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court (Trial Division) and the Federal Court of Appeal He has extensive experience with Employment Insurance appeals and has also acted for clients at the Residential Tenancies Board, Employment Standards Board, Real Estate Commission and Financial Institutions Commission. Ron has also acted in arbitrations and mediations.
He has acted as a supervising lawyer for the Law Students Legal Advice program for years, as well as the Pro Bono Legal Advice program.

Client testimonials:
I strongly recommend Chelsea, and am so glad that she was recommended to me. She quickly analyzed the problem in my case, came up with a clear solution, followed through effectively and achieved the desired results. But that's not all that impressed me. She really knows her stuff, and gives her full attention, and she's completely reliable, and I felt thoroughly confident that she would handle my case in just the right way. She's tough, decisive, and strong like you sometimes need a lawyer to be, and also intuitive and perceptive, and able to read the situation with sensitivity. And while she is easy to talk to and likeable, she is also so efficient and clear and to the point that I never worried about billable time passing. She's honest and a good person, and a brilliant lawyer, she works hard, and her rates are very reasonable. I was very impressed with Chelsea and the quality of her work, and also very grateful to her, and I wholeheartedly recommend her. She has every quality you need in a lawyer, whatever your case may be.

Chelsea handled my case in a very professional and competent matter. Her advice regarding the law and negotiations with opposing counsel were clear and effective. Chelsea’s support during this difficult process, along with clear guidance, assertive counsel, professional skills and knowledge, inspired great confidence in me at all times and helped me manage successfully through this difficult process. Her prompt response to situations, professional demeanor and genuine concern kept me at ease throughout. Thank you so much Chelsea, I sincerely appreciate everything that you did to guide me through the process. I felt I was dealing with an efficient attorney and a good friend.

Chelsea has been great to work with and we have received many positive comments from clients whom we have referred to her as well.

Chelsea Caldwell stood out in the legal profession for me as a result of her honesty. I was able to trust her judgement as a result of her fair and equitable handling of my entire case. It has often been my experience that some lawyers priority is based on billing as opposed to their clients best interests. This was never the case with Chelsea, I knew that all her work was adding value to my case and she made a very difficult time that much easier by allowing me to concentrate on the things that were important as opposed to whether or not I was being billed correctly or if the work was actually required. Chelsea always put my interests first and I would definitely recommend her to others and utilize her services again.

On behalf of myself and the family and friends of E.H., I would like to thank you for all that you did to help me through the process of executing the will. I feel that I was very fortunate to have chosen you to act as my legal representative. Your expertise and experience was very much appreciated throughout the entire process. I know that if I should require any legal assistance in the future that I will call on you and that I would have no hesitation recommending you to others.

Recently, the Supreme Court of British Columbia held that a power of attorney gave a child the ability to create an estate, effectively forcing an application for probate and payment of thousands of dollars of fees where none had been contemplated. What does this mean for people making wills and planning for incapacity?

Losing a job is one of the worst things that can happen to an employee. We help employees by letting them know what their rights are and what kind of settlement they may be entitled to. We help employers by helping to devise contracts and policies to make certain business can run smoothly even when changes in the workplace are necessary.

We know that motor vehicle accidents, even ones that ICBC calls minor, can have a profound effect on people. We know that without the right skills, it is hard to figure out the value of claims. ICBC knows that drivers are at a disadvantage, and can use that knowledge to deprive people of the treatment and financial help that can help them to get better and get on with life.
We also help people who have been injured in other circumstances, including at businesses or events or in other situations where owners or occupiers should have been more careful.
We help people by dealing with adjusters, doctors and others so that our clients can focus on getting better. We do the research and analysis necessary to learn what each injury is “worth” and then we fight for our clients to get the best possible results.
We resolve commercial litigation disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation.
We regularly handle claims for:
We try to solve problems before leaping into expensive litigation. We consider the options open to our clients and find creative solutions to solve problems in the quickest and most economical ways.
Making decisions about what will happen when death or disability occurs is difficult. We help people by drafting wills and other agreements to make certain that our clients’ wishes are respected. We can help you by letting you know what not to put in a will to make certain that as much as possible will go to your beneficiaries and keeping tax payable by your estate to a minimum.
We also counsel our clients about medical decision making, explaining who will have right to make decisions if you are not able, and how to make sure that your wishes are carried out. In short, we help make sure your voice is heard even when you cannot speak for yourself. We also help make plans to protect vulnerable children and family members, setting your mind at ease that your affairs are all in order.
When the inevitable happens, we help executors and family members to obtain probate and administer estates. We advise executors of their duties and can take care of the paperwork and court documents necessary so that you can be sure the job is done properly and without possible complaints from other beneficiaries.
We represent clients in many types of estate and trust litigation. We act for trustees, administrators, beneficiaries and others who may have claims against an estate. Our cases include:
